Bike Walk RVA

Advocating for comfortable and connected places to bike and walk for people of all ages and abilities in greater Richmond. Biking and walking for everyday transportation should be accessible to everyone.

RVA Bike Month: Alex is here to help!

New for 2018, Bike Walk RVA will have another set of hands to help your RVA Bike Months succeed. Meet Alex Cortes, our Bike Month intern for April and May as we Bike to the Future!

My name’s Alex Cortes, and I’m very excited to be working with Bike Walk RVA to help make this year’s Bike Month the best one yet. Commuting by bicycle is my favorite way to connect with our wonderful city, so it means a lot to me to have this opportunity to advocate for a safe and well-connected environment for cyclists, and pedestrians, here in RVA. I stay busy in Richmond by involving myself in diverse communities. By day I work at The Valentine as a Spanish Speaking Museum Educator, lead and assist after-school art programs for youth with ART 180, and sling coffee and beer at Crossroads in Forest Hill. Some of y’all might even know me as DJ Cortes, as by night you can catch me spinning records around town for various events. In my down time, I am probably spread out on a rock along the James River, working in the garden at home, or biking to my favorite happy hour in town.

You can reach Alex by emailing [email protected], and you’re sure to see him around in May!
